It’s very rare for Wenger to respond to questions on specific transfer targets and though the Arsenal manager has hastened to add that his side are not in ‘transfer mode’ this doesn’t of course rule out the possibility of the situation on that front, changing.
The 28 year old has enjoyed four successful seasons in Turin, helping Juventus to four successive Serie A titles since moving from Bayer Leverkusen, but a move to the Emirates Stadium may appeal to the South American.
Juventus take on Barcelona in the Champions League final early next month and as such it’s understandable that the ‘lid’ would be kept on any potential summer transfer speculation at this juncture, however the fact that Wenger has openly stated his interest in the player is surely an indication that rumours linking Arsenal to the playmaker are not far wide of the mark.
