Le 10 Sport suggest that the former Sevilla man may well reveal Paris to be his next destination, with Laurent Blanc’s side believed to be long-time admirers of the experienced right-sider.
The presence of Alves at PSG, as well as new recruit Serge Aurier, would push van der Wiel to the peripheries of the squad and surely make him surplus to requirements at the Parc des Princes.
The Dutch international has been linked with a move to Premier League side Southampton [The Sun via Goal], who may themselves have to replace Belgium international Toby Alderweireld should he return to Atletico Madrid at the end of his loan deal.
“Yes, I have had offers,” confirmed van der Wiel in an interview with Le Parisien, “not from French clubs, but in England, big teams who are contesting the Champions League.
“Monaco? No,” he exclaimed, “but I want to stay here, it’s my home.
