Inter Milan transfer target yet to make decision on PSG future
It is little secret that PSG are planning to bring Barcelona right-back Dani Alves to the Parc des Princes this summer [via The Guardian].
The 32-year-old is out of contract at the end of June and is yet to sign a new deal at the Camp Nou despite an offer being forthcoming from the club. The player will give an announcement on Monday where he will discuss his future [via TalkSPORT], with Le 10 Sport expecting him to confirm that he will be leaving Barcelona.
It remains to be seen if he will also reveal his next destination.
Van der Wiel’s place in the PSG side has already been threatened this season. Despite seeing off Christophe Jallet previously, the club’s decision to take Toulouse defender Serge Aurier on loan—and subsequently sign him permanently [via ESPN] —can be seen as a lack of faith in the Dutchman.
“I want to stay, but that doesn’t depend on me,” the player began, speaking to Le Parisien.
“I am happy here and the team is fantastic, everyone wants to come and play here,” he continued.
“Of course, I’ve asked it they’re looking for a new right-back and they’ve told me ‘no, no’…but we know how football is, they will maybe go and buy one anyway!
“This story was hard for me, I wasn’t serene in my head. I read things, I said: ‘Maybe they don’t want me, so they will buy another full-back.”
Van der Wiel featured 25 times for PSG in Ligue 1 this season, scoring one goal and contributing three assists.
