Manchester United rumours
The Red Devils are reported as being one of the main contenders to sign the Netherlands international, who supposedly wants out of the Allianz Arena after an incredibly successful period with the club.
Robben’s fine form has helped the Bavarian giants to three Bundesliga title wins in the last three seasons, as well as a triumph in the Champions League as part of a memorable treble in 2012/13.
However, according to the Daily Express, the 31-year-old could now seek a new challenge at the end of this campaign, with a return to the Premier League looking a possibility.
Robben first made a name for himself in English football during his days with Chelsea as a youngster, starring in their title-winning sides of 2004/05 and 2005/06.
Although United have already signed Memphis Depay from PSV (a deal all but completed according to BBC Sport), there’s no doubt they could still do with more top class attacking players after unconvincing seasons from the likes of Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.
Youngster Adnan Januzaj has also played far fewer games this year after seemingly falling out of favour with manager Louis van Gaal, who knows Robben well from his time in charge of the Dutch national team.
Given his quality, experience and excellent recent form, United fans would surely welcome the arrival of a player like Robben as they look to mount a more serious title challenge next season.
