Ten world class players Arsenal could sign this summer after Wenger vows to spend, including Liverpool star
The Brazil international’s contract comes to an end this summer, and with no new deal in place, he will be able to join another club at the beginning of July.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the player will speak to the media on Monday in order to make a ‘major announcement’ about his future.
French source Le 10 Sport expect Alves to confirm that he will be leaving Catalonia this summer.
The 32-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Nou Camp, with PSG believed to be particularly keen on the right-back.
Laurent Blanc’s side have struggled in Alves’s position this season, with Gregory van der Wiel not always convincing. The club have signed erstwhile loanee Serge Aurier on a permanent deal, but he has struggled both with injuries and off-field problems during the current campaign, via L’Equipe.
Alves has been earmarked as the solution, and the defender may also announce his intention to move to Barcelona for the 2015-16 campaign.
Recently, as reported by the French source, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu has already given a clear indication that the veteran will be leaving the club this summer.
“Barca has made the best offer possible to Alves,” Bartomeu began, “he will be the only one to decide. I don’t know if he will continue with us.”
Arsenal and Manchester United have also been rumoured to be keen on the defender, according to the Metro.
