Guardado was crucial in helping his side to win the Eredivisie title in his first season in the country, and is expected to named in Miguel Herrera’s Gold Cup squad this summer.
“After winning the league title, this is proof of individual appreciation, I’m proud,” Guardado said. “I’ll come back next year to defend both achievements.”
Guardado learned his trade at Atlas, but left for Europe in 2007. He has since played for Deportivo la Coruna, Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen, and now PSV.
The 28 year old has 113 caps for Mexico, and was widely acknowledged as a star of last summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
