The Reds are planning some big changes upfront in the next transfer window, with Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli seemingly the players on their way out of Anfield after disappointing performances this season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers appears keen to bring in Jovetic as one of their replacements in attack, despite the Montenegro international struggling for fitness and form in his time in the Premier League so far.
Since signing from Fiorentina last season, the 25-year-old has managed just 28 league appearances and 8 goals for City, making him something of a questionable choice for the club as they look to help fill the void left by Luis Suarez as he joined Barcelona last summer.
Still, according to the Daily Mirror, Jovetic does remain one of Liverpool’s top targets as Lambert looks likely to join Bournemouth and Balotelli is linked with Sampdoria.
