Fabregas red card v West Brom: Twitter reacts to Chelsea man losing head and missing chance to beat Arsenal legend’s assist record

Cesc Fabregas’ red card for Chelsea in their Monday night fixture against West Brom at The Hawthorns means that he can no longer beat Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s Barclays Premier League assist record.

The record currently stands at 20 and the Spanish international came into the game at against West Brom just two short of equaling it when he created the opener for John Terry during their 1-1 draw with Liverpool last weekend.

But after being shown a straight red card in bizarre fashion against the Baggies as he kicked the ball into Chris Brunt’s face as the officials were dealing with a separate incident means Fabregas will not have the chance to break the record this season:


He will now miss the Blues’ last game of the season against Sunderland at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, on a day where the champions will lift the Premier League trophy for the first time in five seasons.
