Louis van Gaal ready to cash in on Manchester United striker this summer

Manchester United are ready to consider offers for Dutch striker Robin van Persie this summer, according to reports in the Guardian, despite the player wanting to stay and fight for his place.

The striker has failed to recapture the form that lead the Red Devils to their last Barclays Premier League triumph in the 2012-13 campaign when he scored 30 goals in his first season at the club after arriving from rivals Arsenal in that summer.

But since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson, the Dutchman has suffered with injuries over the past two years and has missed a large chunk of the current campaign with an ankle injury he sustained against Swansea City, which ruled him out for almost three months.

He was not in the squad for United’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon and with his international team-mate Memphis Depay Old Trafford bound in the summer, it would appear that van Persie could find it tough to nail down a regular first team place should decide to stay at the club.
