The 22-year-old was originally signed by now Blues boss Jose Mourinho when he was in charge at the Bernabeu back in 2011. Under the Portuguese the youngster seemed set for big things, starting in important fixtures and slowly edging first team regular Pepe from the side.
However, since the arrival of Carlo Ancelotti at Los Blancos it has become a different story. The France international has had to act as a rotation option, with Pepe and Sergio Ramos seemingly being the first choices for big matches. This has led to the rumours that the centre-back could leave the club.
A big money offer still looks likely to be needed from the Stamford Bridge outfit to tempt Real in to selling. Were the Premier League able to get their man then they could well have one of the best centre-back pairings in the world for the next decade in the Frenchman and current player Kurt Zouma.
