The Red Devils recently announced that they had signed Memphis Depay from the Eredivisie champions, and they could go back to the Dutch club again. Once more it would be for a player that featured in the Holland national team under United boss Louis van Gaal.
The former Feyenoord man has played 18 times for his country, scoring twice. Perhaps more importantly he has been almost ever present for PSV this season, in which they have won the Dutch top flight. The 24-year-old has been especially impressive in the team, scoring 16 goals from midfield in his 44 games.
His old boss is only interested in signing the youngster because of Kevin Strootman’s injury issues and the high price of Juventus ace Paul Pogba. Luckily for the Old Trafford faithful Wijnaldum sounds keen on a move, and he could well be the second Eredivisie star to move to the club this summer.
He said: “Of course I would like to work with him (Van Gaal) again. I worked really fine with him and he is a great man. He gave me the opportunity to play in a World Cup after seven months out injured and I am thankful for that.”
