It was revealed via both club’s official Twitter accounts on Thursday morning that a reported £25million deal (via BBC) for Depay had been agreed, subject to a medical and he will link up with his former international manager Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford next season.
The 21-year-old has been in scintillating form in the Eredivisie this season as he has scored 21 goals in only 28 appearances as PSV clinched their first league title in seven years and the Dutch international has played a huge part in their success.
Scholes admits that he is looking forward to seeing the winger, who reportedly rejected a move to Liverpool (via Sky Sports) in order to join United, in action next season and feels he could thrive in the Premier League:
“He has pace, which has always been a feature of great United teams, and has been badly lacking this season at times.” the former United midfielder wrote in his weekly column for The Independent.
“If he can have anything like the kind of impact Ruud van Nistelrooy made, he will be a great success.” he added.
