GK: Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
With David de Gea’s future in doubt, a new goalkeeper could be brought in, with Tottenham shot-stopper Hugo Lloris believed to be one of the Red Devils’ prime targets in that position.
DR: Nathaniel Clyne (Southampton)
At right-back, Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton remains a long-term target for Louis van Gaal and could be an ideal purchase for that wing-back role.
DL: Fabio Coentrao (Real Madrid)
With Luke Shaw unconvincing this season, a new left-back makes sense for United, with Real Madrid’s Fabio Coentrao believed to be a target.
DC: Mats Hummels (Borussia Dortmund)
One of the best defenders in the world, Mats Hummels has long been linked with a move to Old Trafford and could finally make the switch this summer.
DC: Marquinhos (Paris Saint-Germain)
A top class youngster with real potential, PSG centre-back Marquinhos has also been strongly linked with a move to United and partners Hummels in this transfer XI.
MC: Ilkay Gundogan (Borussia Dortmund)
Another Dortmund star on his way out, Ilkay Gundogan is wanted by United to solve that long-standing midfield issue.
Alongside Gundogan here, AS Roma playmaker Kevin Strootman is one of many big names linked with a move to the club for that part of the pitch.
AMR: Gareth Bale (Real Madrid)
Wide on the right in this formation, Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale is supposedly a £100m target for the club in a stunning move this summer.
Also wanted by Liverpool, PSV wide-man Memphis Depay is another attacking midfield target who could be heading to Old Trafford for next season.
AMC: Kevin De Bruyne (Wolfsburg)
One of the best players in the Bundesliga this year, Wolfsburg star and former Chelsea man Kevin De Bruyne is yet another to be linked with United.
FC: Edinson Cavani (Paris Saint-Germain)
Unsettled at PSG, Edinson Cavani could follow team-mate Marquinhos in swapping Paris for Manchester this summer.
