In the first half America struggled to settle, but have played much better so far in the second period and are now level on the night and on away goals.
Dario Benedetto was the scorer. He was unlucky not to score in the first half when he hit the bar but made no mistake in volleying a Osvaldo Martinez cross into the net.
Away goals count after 90 minutes, but not after extra time. It means if the Mexicans can grab one more goal then Montreal will need two to take the title.
LA Galaxy were the last MLS side to win the title in 2000. No MLS side has won the competition in it’s current format since it changed in 2008, and Mexico has supplied the winner for every year since 2005.
