The 28-year-old has been in fine form in the Primeira Liga this season, scoring six goals in 25 appearances. He also managed an impressive four goals in seven Champions League games to show the Red Devils what he could have been doing in the Premier League.
However, despite this it would seem that United boss Louis van Gaal isn’t interested in bringing the winger back in to the first team fold. The Dutchman has been using Juan Mata and Ashley Young on the wings recently, with record signing Angel Di Maria waiting in the wings if either is injured or suffers a loss of form.
Nani said: “I’m a United player. I always have to go back, but then we’ll see.” He added on whether van Gaal had spoken to him: “No. I receive some texts from [chief executive] Ed Woodward.”
Even his former squad-mates haven’t been in touch: “I used to speak to Antonio Valencia but I changed my number so it’s difficult.”
This has left the Sporting man out of favour alongside Adnan Januzaj, who has found it difficult to make the same impact that he did under David Moyes last season. The Belgian looks likely to also be leaving the club next season according to the Daily Mirror.
