The Blues boss has conceded the decision to keep the 37-year-old may not be down to him, but to owner Roman Abramovich, perhaps hinting that this will be the club legend’s final season in a Chelsea shirt.

Drogba rejoined the London giants last summer after spells in China and Turkey, but has not looked at his best despite mainly being used as a backup option to the likes of Diego Costa and Loic Remy.

Unfortunately, the Ivory Coast forward has ended up playing more than expected due to injuries to the other frontmen, and this may force Mourinho to look into bringing in more reliable options in that position, according to the Daily Express.

“I think, this is a club thing. This is a Mr Abramovich thing,” the Portuguese coach said.

“Mr Abramovich wants him to do what he wants in the club but it’s something Mr Abramovich has to tell him. He has to decide.

“But obviously he belongs to the history of this club.”

Queens Park Rangers striker Charlie Austin and Palermo starlet Paulo Dybala are believed to be the main two attacking players being considered.
