Why Wenger is right and Chelsea star Fabregas deserves a warm welcome from Arsenal fans
1) Cesc Fabregas
Returning to the Emirates Stadium for the first time since leaving Arsenal this weekend, Cesc Fabregas is the latest player to cross the divide, though he did it via a three-year spell at hometown club Barcelona.
2) Ashley Cole
One of the most controversial players to turn out for both clubs, Ashley Cole made the direct move from Arsenal to Chelsea in 2006 after a row with the Gunners over his wages, which fans in the north of London never forgave him for.
3) William Gallas
Moving as part of the Ashley Cole deal, William Gallas joined Arsenal from Chelsea and went on to score the winner against the Blues when they met in the 2007/08 season.
4) Emmanuel Petit
Another midfielder who went from Arsenal to Barcelona to Chelsea in that order, Emmanuel Petit is more well known for his time with the Gunners, but also proved a solid signing for the Blues later in his career.
5) Lassana Diarra
A surprise signing by Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2007, Lassana Diarra was highly thought of at Stamford Bridge but couldn’t get much playing time – which then proved to be the reason he spent only six months as an Arsenal player before quitting for Portsmouth.
6) Nicolas Anelka
A star youngster for Arsenal who found his way to Chelsea much later, Nicolas Anelka was a key forward for the Blues towards the end of his career, in which he also played for Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League.
7) Yossi Benayoun
A surprise signing by Arsenal on loan from Chelsea for the 2011/12 season, Yossi Benayoun was a popular figure in his short time with the Gunners, and never really became a regular at Stamford Bridge.
8) David Rocastle
A player fondly remembered by Arsenal fans, the late David Rocastle is another big-name player who actually represented both sides in his career.
9) George Graham
More well remembered for managing Arsenal, George Graham also played for the Gunners after signing from Chelsea in 1966.
