4) Juventus
Certainly the outsiders of the remaining four sides, Juventus have done well to get back among the big boys in the Champions League, but this is surely as far as they’ll get. The Italian giants have some real quality in the likes of Paul Pogba and Carlos Tevez, but lack the strength throughout their squad to make them the force of the game that they used to be. A 1-0 aggregate win over AS Monaco is not the most convincing route into the semi-finals, and they will do very well to make it into the final considering the opposition.
3) Real Madrid
Last season’s winners just don’t look as good as last year and will probably not retain their crown. Real Madrid fought off a stubborn Atletico Madrid side 1-0 on aggregate to progress to the semi-finals, but have had an inconsistent 2015 with some suggestions of in-fighting and big names like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale just not firing as we’ve come to expect. They could certainly make the final if they come up against Juventus in the semis, but it seems unwise to back them to go all the way on current form.
2) Bayern Munich
Back on form with a resounding win over Porto this week, Bayern Munich have certainly silenced critics with their superb performance to win 6-1 against the Portuguese giants, and make a mockery of suggestion that they may no longer be a force in this competition. Pep Guardiola’s record at this level is better than most, and he looks in with a good chance of making another final and perhaps lifting the trophy for the third time in his seven-year career.
1) Barcelona
First place for us, Barcelona look simply brilliant at the moment and closer to the side that dominated during Guardiola’s reign. Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez are clicking superbly and all look capable of winning the big games on their own, with a hugely convincing 5-1 aggregate victory over Paris Saint-Germain confirming their status as the big favourites to go all the way this year. An El Clasico final would be amazing, as would a reunion with Guardiola if they face Bayern.
