PSV Eindhoven confirm Manchester United have been in contact over Memphis Depay transfer
Depay to Manchester United: Five facts about the £25m-rated PSV sensation
This comes after the news broke that the Red Devils have been in contact with the Eredivisie side about a transfer for the 21-year-old. He has scored 20 goals in 27 appearances for PSV this season, and this has led to speculation over his future. The winger has also played under manager Louis van Gaal while part of the Netherlands international side.
However, the Dutchman has been warned off moving to Old Trafford, with his compatriot believing that it may be difficult for the midfielder to start regularly there. With Angel Di Maria, Ashley Young, Juan Mata, and Adnan Januzaj all able to play in wide areas at the club already, Depay could find it difficult to get in to the side.
Rep said: “The top clubs in Europe have such great squads. With competition like this, the chances are pretty high that you get little playing time. Just look at a striker in the form of Radamel Falcao at Manchester United.
“Depay has the ability to go far and I also believe that Van Gaal would let him play football. But it would be a shame if he ends up somewhere on the bench. So I advise him to stay for another year at PSV.”
