Sergio Ramos netted on Saturday night in Real Madrid’s 3-1 victory over Malaga, and a graphic, released by Opta, shows that the Spaniard has now scored more goals than any other defender over the past decade.
It was his 40th goal of his illustrious career, and firmly puts the Real centre-back in position as Europe’s top scoring defender.
John Terry and Leighton Baines also get a mention on the list, and are the two highest scorers from the Premier League between the 2005/06 to the 2014/15 season. The Everton left-back has certainly benefited from his penalty duties.
