Ramon Abila gave Huracan a dream start by scored twice in the opening 24 minutes. A Leandro Damiao penalty on the hour mark briefly reduced the deficit, but three minutes later Federico Mancinelli added Huracan’s third to seal the win.
In the other game in Group 3, Bolivia’s Club Universitario beat Mineros de Guayana 2-0. It means the Bolivians only need a draw in their final game to progress. A win for Huracan against bottom side Mineros in their final game would send them through.
A draw for Cruzeiro in their final game would only be sufficient for progression if Huracan fail to beat Mineros.
