The 22-year-old stopper has enjoyed his first full season of Ligue 1 action with SC Bastia this term and has helped the Corsican side escape from the relegation zone and push up the French top table.
He was present on Saturday evening as Ghislain Printant’s side were defeated 4-0 by Areola’s parent club PSG in the Coupe de la Ligue final.
The Franco-Filipino goalie is under contract until 2019 at the Parc des Princes, but despite his fine form this season, looks unlikely to break into the first team ahead of Salvatore Sirigu any time soon.
Le Foot Gazette des Transfers have reported that the former Racing Club de Lens man will likely head out on loan again next season.
FC Nantes have been linked with a move for the France U21 international, while Areola may well extend his temporary spell in Bastia, where he has excelled this term.
