The Franco-Senegalese midfielder has been out of action since the middle of October when he seriously hurt his left fibula during a training session.
The 22-year-old has endured a long road to recuperation, but has now rejoined the Bastia first team and is in contention to make his return to first-team action on Wednesday evening according to L’Equipe.
The defeated Coupe de la Ligue finalists are set to meet Olympique Lyonnais who sit second in the table with aspirations of unseating Paris Saint-Germain at the summit of Ligue 1.
The injury was the latest setback in a tricky few seasons for Ba.
Having made his breakthrough with Le Havre, he signed for Sunderland in 2013, but only made one league appearance as the club’s instability and managerial changes made it hard for him to impose himself.
He switched to Bastia on loan in the summer, but was injured after only seven Ligue 1 starts.
The Paris-born star has featured for France at U18, U19 and U20 level.
