Real Madrid star linked with controversial Barcelona transfer
The Mexican international striker, known as Chicharito, has struggled for game time with Los Blancos and started his first game since October, only his second game overall, for the side in yesterday’s 3-0 win over Eibar.
The out-of-favour 26-year-old grasped his opportunity and scored a first-half header to double Real Madrid’s lead over their mid-table opponents.
Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti was so impressed with the striker’s showing that he refused to rule out a bid to keep Hernandez beyond his temporary deal.
He said, “[Hernandez] did very well and worked hard. He scored a goal and could have had another. And as for the future, he is owned by Manchester United. We will see at the end of the season.”
‘Little pea’ joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2010 from Guadalajara for a fee of £6.6m, but has recently fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford and found first-team opportunities limited due to the arrival of other strikers such as Robin van Persie.
