Competition for a starting spot at Arsenal is at a all-time high according to one of the club’s long serving players, fit-again midfielder Jack Wilshere.

The Gunners are particularly strong in the central midfield area, with the likes of Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla performing very well over the last couple of months.
Manager Arsene Wenger revealed earlier in the week that the Saturday evening against Burnley could mark the returns of Wilshere, Mikel Arteta and Abou Diaby, meaning there are as many as six players competing for only two midfield spots for the game at Turf Moor.
And Wilshere, who broke into the first team in the 2010-11 season where he was part of a midfield trio alongside Cesc Fabregas and Alex Song, has spoken highly of the current crop of players in his position.
“When I first broke in there was Cesc Fabregas, there was Diaby, Denilson and Alex Song.” the 23-year-old told the club’s official website.
“We’ve always had real quality in that position but now I’d say there are more of my style of players fighting for that position. You can name four or five attacking midfielders who are world-class.” he added.
Arsenal will be looking to make it eight league victories in a row against the relegation threatened Clarets and would close the gap on league leaders Chelsea to four points, though the Blues will have played two games less.
