It took the hosts just 19 minutes to wipe out the Costa Rican’s 3-0 aggregate lead, and it was 5-0 by the 32nd minute. Winter signing Dario Benedetto scored four in 23 minutes for the hosts, while Edder Nelson was sent off for Herediano.
America will play MLS side Montreal Impact in the final in two weeks.
