Monaco vs. Montpellier Ligue 1 preview: ASM looking to profit from game in hand

Leonardo Jardim could leave Monaco to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal

AS Monaco welcome Montpellier Herault Sport Club to the Stade Louis II as they look to close the gap between themselves and the Champions League places.

When: 6.00 pm GMT, 7 April 2015

Where: Stade Louis II, Monaco

While Olympique de Marseille’s home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday evening may have halted OM’s title hopes, it did reignite Monaco’s push for a top three finish.

The Club of the Principality have been in excellent form over recent weeks, but they stalled against AS Saint-Etienne on Friday evening, only managing a 1-1 draw.

However, Marseille’s defeat means that Leonardo Jardim’s side can move level on 57 points with Marcelo Bielsa’s outfit should they secure a home victory against MHSC on Tuesday evening.

Monaco had requested for this match, which was originally scheduled for earlier in the season, to be postponed again to alleviate their fixture pile-up, but the LFP refused their entreaty.

The Club of the Principality are unbeaten in their last six matches-winning four-and ought to be considered favourites against a Montpellier side who will themselves be in fine fettle having outclassed SC Bastia 3-1 on Saturday.
