The England international has been back in the side after a long injury lay off in recent matches, but hasn’t been able to stop the Reds from slipping out of the race for Champions League qualification. They are now seven points behind fourth placed Manchester City, who also have a game in hand on them.
Lovren meanwhile has had a terrible first campaign at Anfield, with a series of defensive errors leading to him being well down in the pecking order for the first team.
However Sturridge is backing the former Southampton man, dubbing Lovren his ‘brate’, brate means brother in the 25-year-old’s native language.
