Why Liverpool are wrong to expect loyalty from Raheem Sterling

If he were to leave than here are five players who the England international should avoid copying…

5) Michael Owen

Even though he won the Ballon d’Or, you can’t help but think injuries ruined the striker’s career. Most of those problems started after he left Anfield, and he could have become a legend if he had stayed. Instead, Stoke City was the former England international’s final club.

4) Jerzy Dudek

The hero in Istanbul when the Reds won the Champions League in 2005, and a regular in the side for many years. However, when the big move to Real Madrid came, it didn’t go so well for the Pole. He made just 12 appearances in four years at the Bernabeu.

3) Ian Rush

Amazingly successful for the Merseyside club before and after, but the Welshman will still be disappointed with his time at Juventus. Only seven goals in 29 Serie A appearances for the Old Lady meant that he quickly returned to Liverpool the season after.

2) Robbie Fowler

A goal machine for the Reds, the striker never hit the same heights elsewhere. Although he wasn’t terrible at Manchester City and Leeds United, a career that ended with two Australian clubs and a Thai side always seemed a bit disappointing.

1) Fernando Torres

Not many players had a slump like the Spaniard. From one of the best players in the world to a forward who couldn’t score, Torres’ career shows the how crucial confidence, or lack thereof, can reduce even the best players to a shadow of their former selves.
