FC Nantes forward Yacine Bammou has expressed his delight at having been called up by Morocco and having made his debut for the Atlas Lions this week.

Striker Bammou was a slow starter in the game and was still working as a shop assistant at the Paris Saint-Germain club boutique only two years ago.
However, he has finally begun to make his mark in Ligue 1 this season—to date, he has started 21 matches for Nantes and also featured in a further eight games as a substitute.
He hasn’t been in particularly prolific form, scoring only four times and contributing a further three assists, but has done enough to get noticed by Morocco coach Badou Ezzaki.
Bammou received his first call-up in the middle of March and made his debut for the Atlas Lions during the international break.
Speaking to L’Equipe upon his return to club duty, the forward has expressed his delight after a ‘superb week’.
“I had a really beautiful welcome,” he began, “they take care of their country’s players…there were loads of people at the airport, it was touching.
“As far as the passion and the atmosphere are concerned, the national team matches were impressive—it was nothing like at club level. The whole of the country is behind this team.
“I had a superb week and I am happy to be an international.”
