Jose Mourinho has been tracking the 23 year old for some time and is ready to make a strong offer for the Vicente Calderon midfield maestro this summer.
Koke is now into his fifth season at his hometown club and played a key role in Diego Simeone’s La Liga title winning side last term, making 58 appearances in all competitions.
The creative midfielder also impressed during his side’s run to the Champions League final and one can well see why Mourinho would take a shining to the player.
Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have provided more La Liga assists during the current season and Koke’s total of 13 assists last season was second only to Angel di Maria, such has been his influence at Atletico Madrid over the past 18 months.
It’s not instantly obvious as to how Mourinho would use Koke in his starting eleven with Cesc Fabregas, Oscar and Nemanja Matic chiefly used in central midfield roles at present.
