Australia has failed to continue its hot streak of form after being held to a scoreless draw by Macedonia.

Coming into the match on the back of an impressive 2-2 draw with world champions Germany, the Socceroos were expected to make light work of the European side.
Australia were clearly the better side over the 90 minutes, however Ange Postecoglou’s side could not break down the defensive Macedonian outfit.
The Socceroos failed to bring the same intensity and quality in the final third as seen in the game against Germany and struggled to create any clear-cut opportunities.
One positive for the Australians was the international debut of 19-year-old Lazio midfielder Chris Ikonimidis, who looked comfortable in his 10-minute cameo in the dying stages of the game.
It was no doubt a dour match and Twitter reacted (rather hilariously) to a non-eventful 90 minutes:
Match report: Ikonomidis came on, Ref blew for full-time. #MKDvAUS

Horrible, listless match. Best moment the hearty embrace by both coaches at the end. Maybe celebrating not dying of boredom? #MKDvAUS 0-0
