One of Liverpool’s primary transfer targets, Burnley striker Danny Ings, could reject a potential move to Anfield in favour of Bundesliga high-flyers Borussia Monchengladbach. The German club could sign the 22-year-old for just £260,000 in the summer, reports the Independent.

The former Bournemouth frontman has been the star of the season for Sean Dyche’s side as they battle to keep their heads above water and stay in the Premier League. The England under-21 international has bagged nine goals in his debut season in the top flight.
The Clarets forward’s contract expires at the end of the season, and it appears unlikely that he will be playing at Turf Moor regardless of whether Sean Dyche’s side manage to beat the drop.
Liverpool have for a long time led the charge for Ings, but according to the London Evening Standard, several top-flight sides have expressed an interest in the player, including Manchester United.
However, there has also been interest from abroad, with David Moyes’s Real Sociedad reportedly holding talks with the striker. And now Monchengladbach have entered the frame.
The Bundesliga’s surprise package currently sit third in the table, having beaten league leaders Bayern Munich in their last game. The lure of potentially featuring in next season’s Champions League may be the deciding factor, should he choose to move abroad.
However, his current club are unlikely to want to lose him to a foreign club, as it will severely lower any potential compensation fee for the player compared to if he were to stay in England, where clubs would have to pay as much as £5m.
