Michy Batshuayi is enjoying a terrific maiden season in French football, despite being bought as something of a punt by Olympique Marseille at the beginning of the campaign.

The Belgian forward was dropped to the bench for Sunday evening’s clash against Racing Club de Lens, but was brought on at half time to replace the ineffective Andre-Pierre Gignac.
Batshuayi made an instant impact-scoring after only 38 seconds-and went on to bag a brace, delivering an influential performance as Marcelo Bielsa’s side cruised to a 4-0 victory.
There won’t be too many Marseille fans who doubt the former Standard Liege man’s credentials any longer.
As noted by L’Equipe, his double against Lens brought his goal ratio up to one goal-per-90 minutes in the top flight, the best ratio of any player to have found the net three times or more in Ligue 1.
Similarly, his record coming off the bench is impeccable; no player in Europe’s major leagues have scored more than Batshuayi (five) having come off the bench.
There’s no doubt that Batshuayi knows where the goal is, but can he fire OM to the title?
