Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers and goalkeeper Simon Mignolet have both urged the team to bounce back from the defeat by Manchester United and keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive.

The Merseyside outfit suffered their first league defeat of 2015 against United on Sunday, a result which now leaves them five points off the top-four with just eight games to go.
Mignolet, who saved a last minute penalty from Wayne Rooney at Anfield, is expecting The Reds to respond in the same manner in which they did following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of United back in December:
“There’s still a lot to play for and when we come back from international duty, we’ve got that big game against Arsenal.” The Belgian goalkeeper told the club’s official website.
“The game away to Manchester United at Old Trafford we used as a catalyst to put in a lot of good performances – so let’s use this game as a catalyst again when we come back.”
“With all the games still to play until the end of the season, we can still do really well. We’ll build on the game and hopefully we can come back and get a run going again like we did after that Old Trafford game.” he added.
Meanwhile Rodgers echoed the message of his number one:
“We must use this in the same way; refocus, get over the disappointment and then come back into a tough game next against Arsenal and really look to get the points there.” he said.
“We had a 10-game objective that we set. Built into that was that we were not going to win every single game. It’s still very much [possible] for us to go where we want to go, which is the top four. We just need to fight that bit harder and make up a five-point difference.”
Liverpool’s game at the Emirates is looking more and more like a make-or-break game for the visitors as a defeat could leave them eight points off the top four if United are victorious on the same weekend.
