Should Sturridge be forced to pull out of the squad, he could become the second Liverpool player to do so, following the withdrawal of Adam Lallana due to a groin injury suffered in the 2-1 defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
News of a hip problem is sure to be of major concern for both player and club given the fact he has already missed five months of the season due to an injury picked up on international duty in September.
It could also mean a start for in-form Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who is challenging Sturridge for a place in the team alongside Wayne Rooney for England’s European Championship qualifier against Lithuania on Friday.
