David Beckham insisted that there is no one better to be sitting in the managerial hot-seat at Real Madrid than Carlo Ancelotti, and revealed his admiration for the man who coached him during his short loan-spell with Paris Saint-Germain.

The Italian has come under-fire this season, with the Spanish giants’ form in 2015 causing them to relinquish their spot at the top of La Liga to rivals Barcelona, prompting speculation that he could be shown to the exit in the summer if there’s not significant improvement.

Beckham, however, has dismissed any speculation that the former Chelsea boss should be sacked as nonsense: “Is Ancelotti the right man for Real Madrid? For me, yes,” as quoted by Sky Sports.

“He knows how to get respect out of the players, he knows how to get the best out of the players – and the players respect him, as does everybody in the football world.

Becks continued: “I love Carlo, he’s one of the best people I’ve ever spent time with, one of the best managers I’ve ever been managed by.

“For me he’s not just one of the nicest people in the world but also one of the best managers I have ever played under.

“I look at him as a person and as a manager – as a person, you can’t get any better and as a manager, the same. He’s one of the best.”
