FC Metz boss Albert Cartier will be looking for his side to kick-off a great escape with victory away at Stade Malherbe Caen.
When: 7.00 pm GMT, 21 March 2015
Where: Stade Michel d’Ornano, Caen
If Metz are to escape from the inevitability of a spot in Ligue 2 next season, they must begin to pick up points immediately-starting with their trip to Normandy on Saturday evening.
Cartier’s outfit currently sit in 20th place in the French table, having accrued only 22 points from their first 29 matches. Heading into the final furlong of the campaign, the coach will be aware that the turnaround must start against Caen.
Their opponents aren’t completely out of danger themselves and will head into Saturday’s match on 34 points, five clear of 18th-place Toulouse, but all too aware of the ease at which mid-table sides can be dragged into the relegation mire.
Caen may be concerned to learn that Malian striker Modibo Maiga will return for the visitors after sitting out most of the week’s training after being injured in action last weekend.
Metz will, however, be missing goalkeeper Johan Carrasso and Tunisia international striker Fakhreddine Ben Youssef.
