1) Ashley Young (Manchester United)

Out in the international wilderness for some time now, Manchester United star Ashley Young is expected to get back in the England team in today’s squad announcement, with the former Aston Villa man excelling as a wing-back this season.

2) Theo Walcott (Arsenal)

Often a regular for England, Arsenal winger Theo Walcott has had his injury problems in recent years and is certainly not guaranteed a place in the team anymore, though he simply has to perform if he is to reclaim his place.

3) Stewart Downing (West Ham United)

A player in fine form for West Ham this season, Stewart Downing worked his way back into the England squad last time around, and will be hoping for another chance to prove himself.

4) Michael Carrick (Manchester United)

Never quite the player for England as he has been for Manchester United, Michael Carrick needs to up his game and take his chance if he is called up by Roy Hodgson once again, with the Three Lions desperate for a player of his quality and experience in the middle of the park.

5) Daniel Sturridge (Liverpool)

Always a top class performer for Liverpool, Daniel Sturridge’s place upfront is in doubt now after Harry Kane’s rise this season, and he perhaps needs to be more consistent in an England shirt after never quite looking as good for his country as for his club.

6) Ryan Bertrand (Southampton)

With so much competition at left-back, Ryan Bertrand has to grab his opportunity for England if he is rewarded for his fine Premier League form this season.

7) Luke Shaw (Manchester United)

A player who needs to show he hasn’t been badly over-hyped at a young age, Luke Shaw could be back in the England fold despite an inconsistent season with Manchester United.
