Manchester City’s potential successor to Manuel Pellegrini flirts with the club

Southampton boss Ronald Koeman has issued a come and get me plea of some sorts to both Man City and Barcelona after the Dutchman claimed that he was ready to manage one of the biggest clubs in the world.

Koeman has received a substantial amount of praise this season for how he has transformed a Southampton side which was ripped apart over the summer as many top players departed.

A former Barcelona player and legend, the Dutchman said that it would be a dream to manage the Spanish giants, whilst also hinting that Man City director Txiki Begiristain has his number should he need to talk about a potential role at the Etihad.

“I think so, yes, because everyone knows what I have had with Barcelona and what Barcelona has with Ronald Koeman,” Koeman said (via Independent.ie)

“Therefore, if one day in the future I can be manager there, I would love it.”

And regarding a potential move to Premier League champions Man City, Koeman said: “Txiki has my number!”

With the performances from the likes of Morgan Schneiderlin and Jose Fonte this season, Southampton will do well to keep hold of their best players this summer, and may face a repeat of last year in terms of the managerial hot seat.

Should either Luis Enrique or Manuel Pellegrini lose their jobs, Koeman maybe seen as a suitable candidate to become a head coach at either club.
