The 20-year-old is widely regarded as perhaps the best young player in the Premier League at the moment, and has also sparked rumours of interest from the likes of Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.
However, Liverpool are confident that a £50m price tag should ward off potential suitors for the England international, whose future at Anfield looks in increasing doubt.
It is extremely rare for players to move between long-standing rivals Liverpool and United, and the Reds will surely do all they can to prevent that happening.
