The French side lead 3-1 going into the game at the Stade II Louis stadium, but the former Chelsea defender is wary of a Gunners side who have won their last four games in a row:
“Everyone knows that surprises can happen and everyone has to respect Arsenal. We played a good match over there but we will have to play a second at home otherwise it won’t be enough. The 36-year-old told L’Equipe (via Mirror Sport):
“And Arsenal will have nothing to lose. And finally, we will have a bit of pressure after what we did over there. We have the lead but that is good for us but we have to finish the job and defend well.
“We must stay solid and we will have to be good with the ball. We can’t just defend the whole time.”
Carvalho will return to the Monaco side for the game after missing the first leg through injury and will he hoping to keep up his impressive personal record against Arsenal, having never been on the losing side during Chelsea clashes against the Gunners during his six year spell in West London.
