Six Managers Who Could Replace Carlo Ancelotti At Real Madrid, With Arsenal Target & Former Barcelona Boss Included

Real Madrid’s surprising dip in form has seen current boss Carlo Ancelotti edge closer to the chopping block.

He was allegedly tipped for the sack last season, but Madrid’s last gasp Champions League final equaliser – and subsequent aggregate victory – saved his job.

The former Chelsea boss looks to be on his way out now, but who is there to replace him?

Here are six potential replacements:

6) Paul Clement

The current assistant manager, Paul Clement would more than likely only prove a temporary replacement.

His lack of experience would be a real concern, although he would at least have a good understanding of the inner workings of the club.

Allegedly a potential candidate to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, he could learn valuable skills during a short time managing Madrid.

5) Pep Guardiola

Arguably the most talented manager around that hasn’t already been hired and fired by Real Madrid.

His ties with Barcelona make this one extremely unlikely, but if he wins everything at Bayern Munich then he may be looking for a new challenge.

4) Brendan Rodgers

The Liverpool boss taking over at the Bernabeu is right out of left field, but his impressive spell on Merseyside could make him a surprise contender.

3) Louis van Gaal

Despite enduring a relatively mediocre first season at Manchester United, the Dutchman is still extremely highly thought of in the managerial world.

The Red Devil’s may lose faith in the former Netherlands boss, and Real Madrid may find he is one of their only options.

2) Frank de Boer

It’s not difficult to dominate the Eredivisie with Ajax, but even by their standards de Boer has done well.

He may not be the high profile name Real Madrid are used to, but he could prove to be a success in Spain.

1) Zinedine Zidane

Far and away the most likely candidate to replace the former Chelsea boss, the only question is whether or not he is ready.

Zidane was Ancelotti’s assistant last season, but issues regarding his coaching badges and qualifications meant he had to step down.

He is being groomed to eventually take the reigns at the Bernabeu, but if Ancelotti is sacked at the end of the season then it may be just a little too soon for him.
