The Liverpool and Tottenham target has been in superb form this term, netting 15 Premier League goals this term despite his Loftus Road side sitting in the relegation zone, and quotes reported by the Metro suggest Ferdinand isn’t holding out a great deal of hope of retaining the 25 year old.
‘We will be trying our best come the end of the season to make sure Charlie signs up and stays,’
‘But you know what we do understand is that players are ambitious. Sometimes they want to look elsewhere.
‘We will be doing our best to make sure we give him the opportunity to stay and play in the Premier League.
‘The aim is to replenish the squad and we don’t want to be losing our best players like Charlie.’ Ferdinand added.
Both Brendan Rodgers and Mauricio Pochettino could do with a fresh striking option and one imagines that should QPR fail to beat the drop then the former Burnley man becomes all the more likely to leave the club.
Rodgers has seen Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert fail to impress since their moves to Anfield whilst Pochettino has had to overly rely upon Harry Kane, with the likes of Erik Lamela, Roberto Soldado and Emmanuel Adebayor struggling for goals.
