The Brazil international reveals that he turned down a new contract with the Blues once he heard that the Ligue 1 champions were vying for his signature.
Luiz, who left Stamford Bridge in a £50m move, is quoted by the Daily Express as saying: “Chelsea offered me a new contract but I also knew that PSG wanted me – and as soon as I knew that I wanted to leave.
He added: “Chelsea wanted me to stay – that is why they offered me a new contract – but I did not feel so much at home like I did two or three seasons before.
“The truth is I did not take long to decide on PSG. I enjoyed my time at Chelsea but I knew it was time to move on.
The 27-year-old also had a sly dig at his former club, saying that he is now at a club where he is “really valued”.
Luiz went on: “I spoke with Thiago Silva, and after that conversation I knew that PSG were the right club for me. I am at a club where I know I am really valued and where I can win major trophies.”
