GK – Thibaut Courtois
At 22-years-old the Belgium stopper has all the credentials to become a world best in the position – making it a no brainer to hand Courtois the no.1 spot.
RB – Branislav Ivanovic
One of the Blues’ most consistent players, who bombs up and down the pitch. The Serb also has a habit of popping up to net crucial goals, including the away goal at the Parc des Princes in the first-leg.
RCB – Thiago Silva
The Brazilian’s leadership and experience is priceless to both club and country, wearing his heart on his sleeve whenever he steps out onto the pitch.
LCB – John Terry
At 34-years-old many could be forgiven for believing the Blues skipper is on his last legs – but the Chelsea legend remains one of the world’s best centre-halves. Unbelievably – stats showed that the former England captain is even improving with age.
LB – Cesar Azpilicueta
The Spaniard dismissed worries that the club would struggle to fill the void left by former Blues left-back Ashley Cole, with the 25-year-old becoming one of Mourinho’s most trusted players, much to the frustration of position-contender Filipe Luis.
RW – Javier Pastore
The Argentine missed the first-leg due to a knock, but is fit to unsettle Chelsea’s defence on Wednesday night. Since his return, Laurent Blanc’s side have won three and drawn one in their last four fixtures – with the winger netting one goal and grabbing two assists.
RCM – Marco Verratti
The 22-year-old is valued at £40m by PSG, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea all interested – and it’s clear to see why, with the Italian tipped as Andre Pirlo’s replacement. A conductor in the midfield.
LCM – Nemanja Matic
Chelsea’s midfield general would be welcomed into any top European outfit – with the holding midfield role fast becoming a dying art in the modern game. Not many can rival the Serb in the position.
LW – Eden Hazard
Another of Belgium’s young starlets – the winger’s ability and strength on the ball is incredible. The 24-year-old is surely out to soon rival Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
AM – Cesc Fabregas
One of, if not the, best playmaker in the world. The Blues’ assist God has been sensational in his first season at Stamford Bridge. With the ageing Barcelona duo of Andres Iniesta and Xavi, it’s astonishing to think that the La Liga giants allowed the Spaniard to leave with such ease.
ST – Diego Costa
A tough call to leave legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic out, yet the mercurial Blues striker gets the nod, with his goals finally putting smiles back on the faces of the Stamford Bridge faithful following the goalscoring woes of former Chelsea forward Fernando Torres.
