Bourillon opened the scoring on 13 minutes, before goals from Aissa Mandi and David N’Gog gave Reims an unassailable lead. Ismael Bangoura pulled one back for the Canaries on 79 minutes but the home side clung on to secure a valuable three points.

The result leaves Reims 12th in the Ligue 1 log, having picked up 35 points from 22 games.

“The victory did us a lot of good,” said Bourillon after the match, as reported by the Reims official website.

“Considering the classement, it was vital to win on Saturday. It’s done now, so it’s good.

“Now, the fight to keep going will definitely be complicated right to the end, that’s way it’s important to get a little ahead of those who are chasing us.

“At the moment we are six points ahead of Toulouse.”

Le TFC, down in 17th position, remain trapped in the relegation mire following their devastating 6-1 defeat at the hands of Olympique Marseille on Friday evening.
