The Lions are second from bottom and in danger of being relegated to League One after a run of five defeats in six games. The 51-year-old has been in charge since January 2014, and went on to save the troubled side from relegation that season.
However, things have taken a turn for the worse this time round. Despite a strong start the London club have just three wins since October, leading to their outspoken manager’s departure.
Chairman John Berylson said: “This was a hard decision to take because we very much hoped that Ollie would prove to be the man to take us forward and on to the next level. I would like to thank him for his efforts, and in particular for keeping us in the Championship last May. This season, though, has proved to be an extremely challenging one and we now find ourselves facing another uphill battle to avoid relegation.”
Former player Neil Harris has taken over until the end of the season.
The 37-year-old played over 400 times for the club and had been managing the Under 21’s side before this step up.
His first match at the helm will be against mid-table Bolton at the Macron.
