The news was reported by Lorient’s Official Twitter handle [@FCLorientOff] who confirmed that he was calling it a day.
Writing on the official club website, the striker closed his career with the following words: “It is with great sadness that I bring my career to an end in this way,” he began, “it’s a very difficult moment, but football has still brought me great moments of joy.
“I thank my family, those close to me and everyone who has supported me during my career. It’s a new page of my life which is opening from now on.”
The striker moved to Lorient in 2011 but his time in Brittany has been marred by two serious injuries, one suffered against Dijon in 2011 and another during a friendly against Pontivy in July 2013. The first was a break of his left ankle, the second to a metatarsal on his right foot.
He scored 12 goals in 115 Ligue 1 matches.
