Liverpool now face a tough trip to Ewood Park in order to qualify for the semi-finals of the FA Cup.
Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has bemoaned the decision not to award Adam Lallana a penalty after clashing in the penalty area with Matt Kilgallon, an incident that led referee Andre Marriner to wave ‘play on’.
Chances were few and far between as Blackburn managed to contain Liverpool’s usual fluency and the Reds did little to enthuse the home crowd after a flat performance.
The best chance of the game probably fell to the visitors and Rodgers maybe lucky to have another chance to claim a spot in next month’s semi-final at Wembley.

“It wasn’t to be but we will look to get into the semi-final when we play away. When you have that many bodies behind the ball it’s difficult,” Rodgers told reporters post-match (via the Express).
“I thought we should have had a penalty on Adam Lallana and if you get a goal in the first 20 minutes it opens the game up.”
Liverpool will not be pleased to know that the replay maybe scheduled between two crunch Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Manchester United which could prove to be a make or break week for the club.
